This week, for some reason, "the truth will set you free" has been with me, in my ear really loud. So, here I am, grateful, sitting with truth being spoken.
The truth has always set me free. Not something I just believe, it's been my lived experience. At some point I realized that there is no amount of mind f@#cking myself that would make this world make sense when it is understood through lies.
To my fellow white people, you might be uncomfortable, you might feel pain or have your mind blown, it remains true that the only way we will be free is in truth. No matter what, we did not spring up here in this present out of nothing. It matters not what we believe or have believed what our collective history is, we still come from a true history that shapes us, whether we are aware of it or not.
Three giants who truly made America great. Whew! They were the sum of culture, elegance, and sophistication. They showed the world what it means to walk on the earth as a human being. A simply mesmerizing account, thank you.
Side note: your explanation of when people are allowed to call you Mikey was so relevant to me, as I have the same cutoff for when people are allowed to call me Nicky, although my cutoff age might be 16, not 12, but anyway, it was great to hear someone else use similar reasoning as mine. Nicole or Nick are okay, but almost never Nicky unless you're family or an old family friend I grew up with.
