Wow. This clear history towers over the little/nothing we were taught.

This should be a chapter in a history book.

This should BE a history book. And a graphic novel.

A play. A film. A you-tube.

This should be out there.

Thank you.

I'm currently reading a book by Edward Ball, descendant of one of the largest slave-holding families in South Carolina. He's been researching the descendants of the slaves his family once owned, fellow human beings, and getting in touch with them whenever possible. It's called "Slaves in the Family", and it's full of history and very interesting.

Some of these "gotcha" types should read it. They might find it enlightening.

History isn't easy, pavlovian "gotcha" responders. Mr Harriot just demonstrated that to you. But it's compulsory if you want to know why you're "always being called racist" [and it bothers you]. History can only be debunked by Better history; which is why your side wants it eradicated if it can't be whitewashed. You "never owned slaves"! You only wish had the fucking chance you liars.

“If you fight for what’s right, you might not win, but you’ll never lose.” Printing that out and hanging it in my office.

I also printed out Susie King Taylor's book and saved this article to teach this fall. Classes start next week. There will never be enough words to thank you for the work that you are doing.
